If you don’t know how you’re spending your time, or have a feeling you’re not using it “wisely,” a really simple, practical thing you can do is write down what you’re doing.
Write down what you’ve done throughout your day. Include anything you deem noteworthy, AND anything you’re tempted to dismiss.
Make a quick note of what you did, what you learned, how long it took.
Do this for three days.
And then go over the results. Allow yourself to be surprised and curious.
This isn’t an exercise to beat yourself up. But it is a step towards identifying what’s working for you, and what you might want to change.
You will have more information than when you started. And from here, you can act accordingly.
No need to overthink this, just go for it.
I’d love to hear how you get on :)

PS. I cannot tell you how helpful some of my clients have found this simple but useful exercise. It becomes clear exceedingly quickly how we’re spending our time, and how much we don’t account for. Many people are often pleasantly surprised by how much they are getting done, even though they hadn’t quite realised it! So if this is something you’ve been meaning to do for a while (finding out how you spend your time) I highly encourage giving it a go. ✨
PPS. If you’re struggling with the sense that you don’t know what you’re doing with your time, and you sense it’s more than a case of simple ‘time management,’ let me know if you’d like to have a conversation about it.
I work as a coach and love having conversations with people where we untangle these types of issues and get to the root of the problem or what’s bothering you. If you’re interested you’re very welcome to book in a free session here (think of it as ‘taster-coaching’), or you can always get in touch to find out more.
I use toggle to help me track what I do, and I've gotten into a habit of putting the smallest things on there, sometimes even making food, but this was a great reminder to perhaps be even more detailed as I tend to do a lot of "busy work" 😄
