Hello,
So, firstly, if we don’t know each other, I’m Kathryn Ho — a coach for creatives and creatively minded people. I’m based in Scotland but work with people all over the world :)
I’ve been using Substack for over a hundred posts now, since May 2022.
During that time I have used it as a way to connect with people. I’ve never really given it much more thought than that. I don’t really think of myself as a writer; but I am a coach and I do want to connect with people on a regular basis.
Lately I’ve found myself not wanting to communicate so openly on the 'public' internet. It’s not that there’s anything particularly contentious in my writings; I just didn’t feel they needed to be on a published platform.
So, I’ve taken the step of going back to good old-fashioned email. You can subscribe to get my emails here.
However, this switch left me with a bit of a conundrum… What to do with the Substack I already have?
It’s funny how the ideas come to you much easier once you’ve made the leap — or are halfway through the leap.
For me that means using my Substack slightly differently. I had wondered if I’d close it down altogether, but that seemed a bit of a waste. So, going forward on this platform, I can offer you blog-style posts and perhaps even the odd audio series once I get round to it.
Which, when I read it back, seems like the type of thing Substack is meant for, eh?
For now, I’m not actively promoting subscriptions to my Substack. Honestly, I don’t know if that’s a terrible idea or not — but I do know I don’t want to split my focus between two lists.
If you want to hear from me, sign up to my emails.
Otherwise, I will continue to post here with the occasional blog post, but I won’t be scheduling them to be sent to your inbox.
This, I freely admit, is an experiment.
I don’t know how it’s going to go, or whether I will change my mind at a later date.
But how good we get to experiment, right? How good we get to try it out and see what happens.
